My Philosophy

My philosophy is to empower students as critical thinking digital citizens through technology integration and quality media literacy instruction. I strive to create engaging learning experiences that foster collaboration, equitable access, and lifelong learning, ensuring students are prepared to thrive in an ever-evolving digital landscape.

Reality of the Classroom

My passion for AI isn't just about the technology itself; it's about solving the burnout I see in school every day. I’ve found that many teachers view AI as just 'one more thing' to learn. My goal has been to bridge that gap, taking the scary technical concepts and translating them into practical tools that actually save teachers time. I love that moment when a skeptical teacher realizes AI isn't here to replace them, but to handle the grunt work so they can get back to teaching

Digital Citizenship

Coming from a library media background, I look at AI through the lens of information literacy. I am passionate about ensuring students don't just use these tools, but understand them. In my current role, I’ve integrated curriculum specifically on identifying algorithmic bias and misinformation. I want to work in this space because I believe we have a responsibility to not just hand students powerful tools, but to teach them the critical thinking skills to navigate a world filled with AI-generated content.

Curriculum & Equity

I believe AI is the biggest lever we have for educational equity, but only if it’s implemented correctly. My experience in Howard County has taught me that simply buying software isn't enough; you have to support the 'human element.' I am passionate about moving districts past the 'shiny new toy' phase and into deep integration, where AI assists with linguistically diverse learners and personalized instruction. I want to build the roadmaps that make that level of adoption possible for every district.
